From the Chair

Many of you are aware that we’ve undertaken a significant effort to transform your ASQ Society into the modern, robust, well-respected professional association you expect it to be. Society leadership, the board, Section Affairs Committee (SAC), Technical Communities Council (TCC), and staff are all on a mission—to deliver members and customers excellent value while helping the world see the positive impact of quality. We want to make ASQ a sustainable Society in the ever-more regulated and high-tech world we live in now.

When we set out to do this, we knew that we needed to preserve all that is wonderful about the Society: our history, our thought leadership, our contributions to business and communities, and our professional relationships. Staff is working with member leaders, ironing out governance and financial procedures, and devoting a lot of time to bringing you myASQ, the beginning of a much-improved, online member experience. We are energized for the future of ASQ and what we can collectively achieve to provide our members and customers greater value than ever.

We are so glad you are on this journey with us; it is our pleasure to serve you.

ASQ Certification

Professional Development

Since 1991, certification has been rated as one of the three most valued benefits of ASQ membership. A professional certification can offer tangible benefits to both you and your employer. Invest in yourself and your career with this mark of excellence. Gain an advantage over your competition, and increase the potential of earning a higher salary.

ASQ certification is a formal recognition by ASQ that an individual has demonstrated a proficiency within, and comprehension of, a specific body of knowledge. It’s also a mark of excellence. Recognized globally, ASQ certifications help quality professionals show they’re on top – of regulations, of expertise, and of industry standards.

Take advantage of this helpful tool to find a certification that differentiates you, and enhances your career opportunities.

Program Recap

April 2018

Miravida Living

We were privileged to tour the Miravida Living facility on April 9th. Miravida Living has taken the voice of their customers and improved the care they provide.

Continual improvements to the physical space include creating suites with separate living and sleeping areas, and adding a pub and potentially a theater-like area.

Miravida looked to research to recommend changes that might reduce the need for anxiety and depression medications. The result was the creation of the Namaste Room. In this dedicated space,

residents can take time to relax and calm inner turmoil through sensory triggers like warmth, touch, and music.

Miravida Living strives to keep residents engaged in the community as a whole by partnering with local school and student organizations to encourage intergenerational interactions; encouraging animal interactions with dogs and cats; adding a dog park to the garden area; and becoming an early participant in the Cycling Without Age program in the United States.

Know Your Network

Bruce Bader

Education Chair

"Each of you should look not only to your own interests but also to the interests of others." This is one of the instructions the apostle Paul gave. I have used that as a direction for my life. Hence, I not only joined ASQ for what it could do for me but am a board member for what I can contribute to others.

I started my career as an engineer and got into quality almost as a fluke; because of the need for a quality manager. I have since earned several certification, and still maintain CMQ/OE, and progressed to Continuous Improvement manager of an organization. I recently retired but still do consulting because I want to continue to help others.

It is amazing how quality systems can saturate your life. I even 5S my home workshop.
